Razole Is a small old town in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh in India. It was a Taluk Head Quarter originally.

The town is situated at the Southern most end of East Godavari District. It is situated on the left Bank of River "Vasista" which is one of the two main branches of River Godavari the other being Gowthami. Most of the sacred rivers in India flow towards East and join Bay of Bengal except Narmada and Tapathi on west of Southern India both of which flow westward and join Arabian Sea.

Peculiarly the River Vasista though travels East and South at some points, it flows westward, only at Razole making the river a sacred river for bathing. As per old Hindu Dharma it is very Auspicious and sacred to have a dip in rivers in the morning times. The Dharma sutras say that one should stand opposite to the stream, while taking both in a river and opposite to the sun in the morning hours and offer "Arghyapradanam” to sun while taking bath. This is possible only at Razole in Vasista River. That is why it is stated that it is a sacred place for bathing every morning making a 'Sankalpam' as "VASISTA PASCHIMA VAHINI SNANAMAYAM KARISHYAMI".

For every twelve years Godavari Pushkarams would be observed where tens of lakhs of devotees would take a dip for twelve days at all the bathing ghats situated on all branches of Godavari.

On one such Godavari Pushkarams in 1908 one Bolla Buli Subbarayudu a philanthropist and land lord of Pedapatnam-Agraharam a nearby village to Razole established Goutami Pushkara Pathasala by declaring in the sacred River Vasista Razole by way of "Dhara" of sacred river water into to then Tahasildars Right palm. The then Tahasildar accepted the gift by receiving the sacred water.

Since then Gowthami Pushkara Pathasala has been engaged in teaching Vedas through pandits update. The pathasala also celebrated its centenary in December-2008 in the presence of pandits and other V.I.Ps. A Souvenir was published on the occasion and centenary pylon was also constructed on that occasion. It is one of the oldest Vedic schools in East Godavari District being run sincerely, honestly and with devotion. One late Ponnada Sreerama Venkata Suryarao from 1925 to 1964, late Dr. P. Visweswara Rao from 1964 to 1970; late S. V. Ramasastry (Sarat Pantulu) from 1970 to 2000 officiated as managers and nurtured the institution. Now Sri Ponnada Hanumantharao, Senior Advocate has been acting as Manager.
